Hello to all former and to-be ASBers,
It’s mid-November, which means ASB is in less than 4 months! This year there are 36 trips, but one trip in particular is going to rock the socks off ASB ’11…Chicago P.A.W.S.!
This year we (Erica O’Sullivan and Rachel Wellford) are coordinators for P.A.W.S., and we could not be happier. P.A.W.S. (Pets Are Worth Saving) is a Chicago-based pet adoption and humane center. It is the city’s largest No Kill humane organization, focused on implementing solutions to end the killing of homeless pets. They help both dogs and cats get put in foster and permanent homes, as well as running a low-cost spay and neuter clinic.
Basically P.A.W.S. is an awesome organization in a wonderful city, so the question is should you go? Answer: Of course!
As far as coordinators go, we don’t wanna brag, but we’re pretty cool. Erica is a sophomore in CGS, minoring in Psychology, and will be transferring to Sargent College for Health Science. She is from Queens, New York. Erica considered minoring in Art, but now does it for fun, and she’s pretty good at it.
Rachel is a junior in COM, majoring in Broadcast Journalism, and minoring in Political Science. She is from Richmond, Virginia. Rachel plays guitar and sings for fun.
We are pretty different, but we also have a lot in common. Most importantly we both LOVE dogs and the CSC. Erica did FYSOP ’09 and was staff for FYSOP ’10. Rachel went to Goshen, Indiana for ASB ’09 and was staff for FYSOP ’10. She also does Student Food Rescue.
Erica has a 16-year-old German shepherd/Akita mix named Cheetah and a 2-year-old cat named Detective Mittens. She also had a cat named Bubbles, when she was younger. Rachel had a lab/Australian shepherd named Jake growing up and adopted a pitt-bull/lab puppy named Beau last summer, who now lives with another family.
We would love to have you come with us to Chicago, so check our blog and the ASB website for updates on information sessions and registration next semester. If you have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
